Foundation for the NIH Announces U.S.-Russia Collaboration in the Biomedical Sciences National Institutes of Health Visiting Fellows Program

Application for Fellowships Now Open

BETHESDA, MD, July 2, 2012 — The U.S.-Russia Collaboration in the Biomedical Sciences announces a new Visiting Fellows Program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The program invites applications from Russian researchers to spend two years in the laboratories within the NIH Intramural Research Program (IRP).

Applicants MUST meet ALL the requirements:

• Must be a Russian citizen or permanent resident.
• Must have a PhD (кандидат наук) at the time of application. Applicants may hold an MD in addition to the PhD, but an MD degree alone does NOT make one eligible to apply.
• Applicants must have no more than 5 years of relevant research experience since completion of their last doctoral degree.
• Applicants already working in the United States are not eligible.
• Individuals who previously trained at the NIH are not eligible (excludes short-term visits and training courses).
• Must have a written commitment of support from an investigator in the NIH IRP (see sample letter of support [link to letter]).
• The Program aims to increase U.S.-Russia collaborations in health research and is supported in part through the U.S.-Russia Collaboration in the Biomedical Sciences, a public-private partnership of the Foundation for the NIH.
