Job Description:

The Foundation for the National Institutes of Health seeks a Development Assistant to join and support a talented team of fundraisers in developing research collaborations and securing multi-million-dollar funding commitments to enable biomedical research programs, training initiatives and events.

The Development Assistant coordinates key departmental activities, produces operational reports and provides regular analyses of corporate and foundation funding and engagement; develops and designs fundraising materials using Adobe software; facilitates dialogue with NIH and others regarding requests to collaborate; manages gift reporting and acknowledgement; facilitates funds transfers; tracks the department expense budget, updating and reconciling regularly; compiles materials for, and drafts minutes of the FNIH Portfolio Review Committee; manages the Development intern recruitment process and oversees the work of the intern, and provides administrative support to the Senior Vice President of Development.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of administrative and/or nonprofit experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the following skills and abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated initiative; ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced competence in use of Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Perform under pressure or within tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising databases – a plus
  • Familiarity with Adobe software, such as InDesign and Illustrator – a plus
  • Interest or experience in fundraising – a plus
