ABOUT THE SITE
With a vision to be the leading academic center in the field of maternal and child health, recognized nationally and globally for excellence in education, research, and clinical care, the Division of Women and Child Health, Aga Khan University was formally established in the year 2008. We anticipate that the Division’s core values and research activities will affect the health status of women and children especially in the developing world, now and in the future.
The Division is comprised of two departments; the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, have a faculty base of 70, including both full-time and part-time faculty and consultants, an overall staff base exceeding 1300 competent professionals, and has a very strong research foundation that has successfully achieved 99% research funding from extramural sources. The Division has been instrumental in establishing strategic linkages and collaborations with institutions of international repute like The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, World Health Organization, Tufts University, University of Maryland, UNICEF, USAID, International Atomic Energy Agency, Karolinska Institute, Johns Hopkins University, London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Save the Children, European Commission and many others.
