FNIH Statement on the Moderate Alcohol and Cardiovascular Health Trial Follow-Up Report
December 13, 2018 — Today, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Advisory Committee to the Director (ACD) issued a follow-up report on the Moderate Alcohol and Cardiovascular Health Trial (MACH). The following is the FNIH’s statement on the report.
The FNIH supports NIH’s changes to its policies to strengthen practices that support transparency, impartiality and research integrity. The FNIH will work with NIH to increase awareness of the Request for Collaboration (RFC) process and best practices.
As NIH mentioned during the ACD meeting, the FNIH’s entire process throughout the MACH trial was without fault, above board and adhered to the highest standards.
The FNIH values its relationship with the NIH and the private sector and will continue working closely with these entities to conduct biomedical research partnerships that improve health and save lives.
