FNIH Welcomes Jay Bhattacharya, MD, PhD, as NIH Director
The Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) welcomes Jayanta “Jay” Bhattacharya, MD, PhD, as the 18th director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Bhattacharya is a leading U.S. health economist and physician.

Gerberding, MD, MPH, President and CEO of the FNIH. “Dr. Bhattacharya has shown a commitment to bold, edge science that can really make a difference. Dr. Bhattacharya was most recently professor of medicine at Stanford University. He has served as a research associate at the National Bureau of Economics Research and director of Stanford’s Center on the Demography and Economics of Health and Aging. He received his BA, MA, and PhD in economics, and his MD, all from Stanford University.
