BETHESDA, MD, May 4, 2015 – The Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) is pleased to announce a workshop and progress update on the Osteoarthritis Biomarkers Consortium Project, which will be held immediately before the opening plenary session of the World Congress on Osteoarthritis in Seattle on April 30. Project leaders will discuss how the study was designed—using samples from the NIH Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI)—and key results on emerging imaging, serum and urine biomarkers predictive of structural disease and pain progression in knee osteoarthritis. The session will not be webcast; however, the FNIH Biomarkers Consortium will be posting video highlights of the workshop shortly after the event. The World Congress on Osteoarthritis, which is presented by the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI), brings together hundreds of basic scientists, radiologists, rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons, physicians in physical medicine and rehabilitation and policymakers.
